County mayors participate in mock gift exchange to promote local Christmas bureau
Darryl Coote
To promote the Huron
County Christmas Bureau,
county mayors partici-
pated in a mock gift
exchange Nov. 23 where
the gift would then be
donated to the bureau,
which then gives it to a
local family in need.
However, the exchange
is not so simple. The may-
ors drew names and were
tasked with buying a gift
not just for the mayor of
the name they received,
but for the child they
believe that that mayor
once was.
For instance, Goderich
deputy mayor Jim Don-
nelly received a baseball
mitt and a ball. Goderich
mayor Kevin Morrison
unwrapped a remote con-
trol car while South Huron
mayor Marueen Cole, the
only female on county
council, was gifted a doll.
ere was a lot of laughter
in the often sternly quiet
council chambers as the
mayors unwrapped their
gifts.
South Huron mayor Maureen Cole shows off the doll she got
during the mock gift exchanged.
With a big smile on his face, Goderich mayor Kevin Morrison
unwarps a remote control car.

County council and staff stand behind the bounty of gifts they gave one another as part of a mock Christmas gift exchange. All gifts
were then given to the Huron County Christmas Bureau, which will then distribute the gifts to county families in need.
Members of county staff open their gifts.
