The event lived up to its expecta- tions by far, however they yearned for an initiative on a more meaningful scale. Instead of celebrating with the folk in the area, they longed to give back and embrace the region in a positive way. Justin Laporte, marketing coordinator at McGavin Farm Equipment said they searched for a community involvement project. The petting zoo and Ferris wheel at the anniversary was generous, but it just wasn't enough. Realizing how many extra "special edition" hats they had from the festivities that saw thousands of people, the busi- ness thought they might as well sell the rest and put all the pro- ceeds towards breast cancer. The hats with the 80' anniversary stitched on the side went for five dollars and were available in either blue or pink. Laporte stated that they sold about 200 in less than 48 hours. Brenda Campbell an agent with Reality Execu- tives in Seaforth was inspired by their success and jumped on board selling fifty hats in 10 minutes. "We could have sold 500 hats to be honest, but they didn't have anymore left," said Campbell. Laporte concluded with saying the event exceeded their expectations by raising $1,000; and they will be doing something of a similar nature in the future, he said. if it's local, it's here eaforthhuronexpositor.ca OFFICE HOURS The Office Hours for The Seaforth Huron Expositor are as follows Mondays - 9am - 5pm Tuesdays - CLOSED Wednesdays - 9am - 5pm Thursdays - 9am - 5pm Fridays - 8am - 4pm SQefarih 1IPoo Expositor 8 Main Street, Seaforth ON PH: 519-527-0240 www.seaforthhuronexpositor.com Shaun Gregory The hats made and the $1,000 cheque from McGavin Farm Equipment , which went towards breast cancer. adi'' To Place ® • CHRISTMAS iREETTINi • in the December 21.st edition of the Seaforth Huron Expositor Please contactyby.
