Q and A with Sean Hogan
after the 13th Annual
Canadian Christmas Tour
at the Seaforth Legion
Shaun Gregory
Huron Expositor
Is this your first time per-
forming in Seaforth? Yes it's
my first time.
How was your stay in
Seaforth? It reminds me of
family because my sister
lives here now. I grew up in
Ontario, down in Sarnia, on
the American border. Com-
ing this way reminds me of
going to little towns like For-
est Ont. where my parents
met. We used to go there for
Christmas. It's probably the
size of Seaforth maybe a little
bigger. It was good, it
reminded me of my old
childhood.
Since this has been so
successful, could we see
this happening again in
Seaforth in the future? I
would love to make this a
tradition; we will look to def-
initely do this again.
Knowing how much you
put on the line, did you
think it would grow to a
show of this magnitude? I
was hoping it would be this
great as far as attendance, I
didn't think it would be this
good, so this is fabulous.
You made 200 tickets
right? Yes I made 200
tickets.
Do you think this might
be a sell out crowd? I don't
know for a fact, but I would
say that it looks like it.
What do you do to pre-
pare for something like this?
It helps to sing for a living and
that kind of keeps you in the
spirit of it, but doing this tour
every year, this is the 13th year
of the Christmas Tour, (cer-
tainly helps.) This is all I've
done for 23 years was make
music. I've been to all kinds of
different venues and I'm just
very grateful I can still do that.
What's next for Sean
Hogan? I'm going back to
working in the studio, I've
got a buddy who's a pro-
ducer I work with and in Jan-
uary we will start getting
tracks together for my sev-
enth album in the studio. I'm
looking forward to that.
So there are three other
acts included in the Christ-
mas show, Thomas Wade,
Jamie Warren and Jessie T.
Will they be doing all of the
18 concerts this year with
you? Jessie is on for two
shows this year, but she
sounds amazing and I think
it would be awesome to have
her in all the shows next
year.
So where will you be
going next? We go from here
to Little Current Ont., Elliot
Lake, Sudbury, Shel- burne
Ont. then we have a show in
Winnipeg, Pilot Butte Sask.,
Lumsden Sask. Peace River
Alb., a little place called San-
gudo Alb., and Whitecourt
Alb. in a big casino there.
Then we do seven or eight
shows in British Columbia
from the north right to Van-
couver Island.
How do you land 18 gigs
across Canada? You get
used to being your own
agent, a lot of these towns
I've played for are repeated
clients. Peace River Alb. this
will be the 11th show we've
done there. There will be
about 600 people at that
show. Some of them are
brand new dates like this (in
Seaforth.) I'm just thrilled
when it's a brand new place
and it goes well.
It seems you have some
snow out there for the first
show.? I know just in time
for the Christmas show, it
will feel like Christmas, two
days ago it was 17 degrees, it
was not feeling like Christ-
mas, maybe one in Palm
Springs, but this is great, I've
got snow tires, we're not
going to race, it should be
okay. I drove out here this
time from (British Colum-
bia). Usually I fly out, we rent
vehicles, I had some shows
that weren't Christmas, so I
just drove.
Sean Hogan said from what it seemed from the concert's success, they possibly will have a $1,000
to donate to the Seaforth Library for repairs.
Last Saturday during the 13th Annual Canadian Christmas Tour, country singers electrified the near 200 people at the Seaforth Legion.
