Charlie Yelkin has been named the team's first ever Captain. He is a 20 -year-old who hails from Eagle, Nebraska and is no stranger to coach T.J. Runhart. Yelkin started the season last year with the London Lakers, where Coach Runhart was an assis- tant coach. "I coached Charlie last season in London and I knew he was a real character guy who could help this team turn around." said Coach Runhart. Charlie joined the Gener- als October 20, around the same time the team recorded their first ever win. "It was in that game we noticed Yelks had what it takes to help us push these young men in the right direction" Coach Runhart added. Charlie has racked up five points, one goal and four assists in nine games since joining the Generals. The team has also named the Aassistant captains Cor- bin Paypompee of Shoal Lake, Avery Albert of Arvada, Colorado and Seaforth's hometown son Scott Chisholm. "These three bring a lot of leadership in different ways to our team. Avery is very vocal in the room and on the ice." Coach Runhart mentioned. The Arvada Col- orado native is really enjoy- ing a break out season on the back end with the Gen- erals, his 24 points, nine goals and 15 assists leaves him alone on top of the Generals scoring leader board. Corbin Paypompee has been entertaining to watch this season said Runhart, his 10 points, seven goals and three assists, has him ranked third in team scoring. "Corbs has missed some game time to injury this sea- son, but he has battled hard and does everything that's asked of him," stated Run - hart in a recent interview. Scott Chisholm is the youngest of the group. The 17 -year-old local attends CHSS and has been dedi- cated to the Generals since day one. "Chizzy is one of the first ones to the rink and one of the last to leave night in and night out" Coach Runhart men- tioned. Being a local kid he has helped out a lot of his teammates off the ice as well. Chisholm has 14 points, seven goals, seven assists in 19 games this season. "We have no issue play- ing Junior in any role or situation that's thrown at us, he takes his lumps and usually lets it roll of him with a smile." Coach Run - hart had to say regarding Chisholm's play this season. The Generals hit the ice on the road last Saturday night in Angus to take on the Essa Stallions. A goal by Gens Captain Charlie Yelkin 57 seconds into the game was the statement the Generals wanted to make. A goal by Brandon Cain, five and a half min- utes later put the good guys up by two, the Stal- lions made it 2-1 a minute later. The second period witnessed the Generals open the scoring even more, with Damon Theara and Skylar Paishk scoring goals three minutes apart, the Generals then opened their lead to 4-1. The Stal- lions launched the third period with a quick goal. The Generals continued to execute their game plan and Jeremy Ledoux slide home the insurance marker with two minutes and 12 seconds left in third. Ian Roberston (Cal- gary, Alberta) got his first win of the season in front of his parents who were visiting for the weekend. "Having them there for my first win was a really special moment for me. I appreciate the Coaching Staff giving me the start tonight while my parents were here to see me play. This will be something I carry with me for years to come," Roberston had to say on the ride home. They came with a new game plan; a new focus and they came to play for a whole 60 minutes. "That's something we have been lacking this year, now that we have a roster starting to take shape its keeping the guys accounta- ble and were starting to see way better results. I'm proud of the boys. They played very well and they deserved those two points." Coach Runhart said about the impressive win. Less then 24 hours after picking up their second win of the season, the Generals were home to take on the visiting Essa Stallions. The Generals jumped out to a lead thanks to a power play goal by Avery Albert. Scott Chisholm gave the Gener- als a 2-1 lead on a fancy move in tight on the goalie. The Stallions pulled even once again in the seesaw battle. About 30 seconds later, Matt Curgainis gave the edge back to the Generals. The second period dragged on with the hometown boys leading until Stephan Eccles scored to tie it up 3-3. With one minute left in the second period, the Generals newcomer Tom Moneyas banged home a power play goal in the blue paint to give the Gen- erals a 4-3 lead heading into the third period. However just a minute and 45 seconds into the third, the visiting Stallions answered the bell and 10 minutes and 33 seconds later the Stallions took their first lead of the game. Penalty trouble had the Generals on a 5 on 3 power play with four min- utes to go in the game trailing by one goal, Gen- erals Coaching Staff pulled the Goalie to give them a 6 on 3. It paid off when assistant captain, Avery Albert ripped home the tying marker with just 1:44 left on the clock. Time remaining in the third solved nothing, and the teams needed extra time to finish the competition. 1:05 into the 3 on 3 over- time was all that was needed to give the Generals their second win in the weekend. Corbin Paypompee undressed the Stallions defender before he pro- cessed to dangle around the Stallions netminder and fin- ished it off with a nifty back- hand shot into the open cage. Generals 16 -year-old ,Goalie Spencer Redmond recorded his second win of the year facing 47 shots. "I'm really pleased we were able to play 120 min- utes of hockey this weekend. These boys should be proud of this, we've been busting our butts for two weeks to start showing what were about, and I'm happy to see the results showing up on the scoreboard. Our power play was big for us this week- end, we got the goaltending we needed and the responsi- bility of taking care of our zone first were key points this weekend. Coach Run - hart had to say on this week- end's recap. The Generals expect to keep it up next weekend when the visiting Grey High- land Hawks come to town for a 4:30 p.m. match up Sunday November 20.
