Vehicle goes up in
flames from crash
(HURON EAST, Ont.) - The
driver involved in a single
motor vehicle collision that
took place earlier this morning
west of Molesworth remains
in hospital with serious but
stable injuries. Initially his
injuries were believed to be
life threatening however his
injuries are no longer consid-
ered to be life-threatening.
Shortly before 8:00 a.m.
Huron County Ontario Pro-
vincial Police (OPP), Perth
County Paramedic Ser-
vices and Grey Township
Fire Department person-
nel responded to the collision
scene located on Jamestown
Road just east of Adams Line.
Investigators have since deter-
mined the driver was travel-
ling eastbound on Jamestown
Road when he began to fishtail
on the gravel road surface. He
lost control of his vehicle and
his Subaru Outback slammed
into a tree on the south side
of the road. The driver was
able to escape from his vehi-
cle before it caught on fire.
The lone occupant has
been identified as a 20 year
of age from Wingham.

Heater stolen

SHIP, Ont.) — The members
of the Huron West Detach-
ment of the Ontario Provin-
cial Police (OPP) are ask-
ing the public for their assis-
tance in solving this crime.

Racing charges,
driving 60
km/h over
(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-
WAWANOSH, Ont.) — A young
driver from Ripley has been
charged with Racing follow-
ing a traffic stop that took
place on October 24, 2016.
Just before 1:00 p.m. a
Huron County Ontario Provin-
cial Police (OPP) officer spot-
ted a Toyota Tundra pickup
truck traveling eastbound on
Amberley Road west of Luc -
know at a high rate of speed.
The officer confirmed his vis-
ual observations of the rac-
ing vehicle with a RADAR
device and confirmed the
speed of the truck to be trav-
elling at a speed in excess
of 140 km/h in the posted
80 km/h zone. A traffic stop
was initiated and the driver
was subsequently charged.
Valerie ELCHUK, 22 years of
age, from Ripley has been
charged with "Race a Motor
Vehicle". She has a court
appearance scheduled for
December 6, 2016 at Pro-
vincial Offences Act Court in
Goderich. Her driver's license
is suspended for seven days
and her company vehicle has
been impounded for the week.
Stunt driving
charges
CENTRAL HURON, Ont.) —A
27 -year-old male driver from
Cambridge is facing sev-
eral charges following a dan-
gerous driving incident that
took place earlier this week.
At approximately 4:07 a.m.
on October 26, 2016 a Huron
County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officer spotted a
Ford Super Duty truck speed-
ing through the Village of Bay-
field at very high rate of speed.
The officer was able to meas-
ure the speed of the truck
with a RADAR device and the
speed was measured to be in
excess of 145 km/h. A dan-
gerously fast speed con-
sidering the truck was pull-
ing a trailer loaded with golf
carts and the speed limit
through Bayfield is 60 km/h.
The officer began to follow
after the vehicle and watched
as the driver continued to drive
in the oncoming lane for sev-
eral kilometers. The officer
attempted to stop the vehi-
cle, however the driver contin-
ued northbound toward Goder-
ich. As the vehicle approached
the south of end of Goder-
ich two other police vehi-
cles were utilized and the
driver finally pulled over just
before he entered Goderich.
The driver was placed under
arrest for Dangerous Driv-
ing and while speaking with
the driver the investigating
officer noted the driver had
been drinking alcohol and
was displaying signs that
he was impaired by alco-
hol. Hence the driver was
also placed under arrest for
Impaired Driving. He was then
transported to the Huron OPP
Detachment for breath tests.
He subsequently provided
two samples of his breath to
a qualified Intoxilizer Techni-
cian and both of his samples
registered over the legal limit.
As a result, the 27 -year-old
from Cambridge has been
charged with Impaired Driv-
ing, Drive Motor Vehicle — Over
80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Dan-
gerous Driving and Perform
Stunt — Speeding by 50 km/h
or more. He was later released
from custody with a court
date scheduled for Decem-
ber 5, 2016 at the Ontario
Court of Justice — Goder-
ich. He received an automatic
90 -day driver's licence sus-
pension, an additional seven
day driver's licence suspen-
sion and his vehicle has been
impounded for seven days.
