A 'colourful' initiative to spruce up Seaforth CONTINUED FROM > PAGE 1 "It's almost like that rainbow. Colours of the spectrum and at the end of it, is a big pot of gold. I say it's Seaforth," said Hawley. "The method of madness, I was hoping with these visuals (people would think), 'Hey you've got a golf course. Okay, you've got fit- ness centres here. Oh my gosh a retirement community, maybe I'll stop my car and spend some time here.."' Since Hawley had a lot of the previous hardware from the first string of banners, the most recent mission costs were a third of the last project. This time around, the luring posters that were all paid for by the HESCDT cost about $4,000, compared to the $15,000 it did six years prior. Hawley calls the images a 'unique outdoor art gallery,' and expects guests to do a right or left down Main Street, instead of the typical straight drive thru. "A picture is worth a thousand words, that's what the whole idea behind the banners (is). I needed to present a dynamic visual," Haw- ley said. She added that most of the photos selected originated from a collection of roughly 15,000 images that a professional pho- tographer has taken in the last eight years. Seaforth Ward Coun. Bob Fisher said he's heard nothing but positive comments from ratepayers relating to the banner project. "I'm a firm believer that colour vitality will spruce up your com- munity," Fisher said.
