Instead of the negatives, it was mostly positive remarks about recreation Shaun Gregory Huron Expositor When the word recreation is spoken in Huron East, in terms of money it is like a curse word or a dagger in the back of the budget, but last Tuesday's council meeting played a different tune. For once it was more of a small ray of sunshine. Lately the three recreational facilities in Huron East have been the bearer of bad news when it comes to exactly how much they cost to operate. After a further analysis comparing Huron East to other municipalities it has been shown that it actually is not the case. Huron East's treasurer/ finance manager, Paula Michiels and the CAO Brad Knight pre- sented their fellow colleagues with several bar -graphs to show- case their findings and they were not any different from their neigh- bouring areas. If anything in most cases they were mediocre. "I knew from our service deliv- ery (our initial review) that we were the bottom three per capita costs and we were in the middle on the waited assessment costs within the county. However we wanted to expand that, so we went to Perth County and pulled some municipalities from there with similar facilities," stated Michiels. CONTINUED > PAGE 2
