Rob Ford dies but his spirit lives
on through the bad and the good
If you spent most of your
life in the coldest of cli-
mates in a 6ft.x6ft. igloo with
no communication to the
outside world, quite frankly it
doesn't matter, you know this
man. When the seven -letter
name originating in Toronto
is brought into conversation,
more popular then the Maple
Leafs and multi -platinum
rap -recording artist Drake,
Rob Ford was what was being
talked about. He was the poli-
tician anyone and everyone
felt they knew and had an
opinion about -he just died at
46.
Did he leave a legacy or
was it just political debauch-
ery? I would have to say both.
Before Ford lost his
approximately year and a half
fight to cancer, Toronto, the
most densely populated city
in Canada, had finally been
quieted of talks about their
former Mayor. Ranging from
the accusations of him smok-
ing
moking crack -cocaine on videos
to what he famously calls
"drunken stupors" or the
bragging comments of oral
sex with his wife and the list
goes on and on...
But after the cancer, it
seemed as if the cameras just
shut off, the buzz had finally
died down. To call it abuzz is
kind of an understatement
though. What mayor from Can-
ada do you knowthat's made
an appearance in the brightest
of red ties on one ofU.S:s most

pretty much humiliating Ford
for 20 straight minutes, this
occurrence was unheard of I
guess no publicity is bad pub-

much positive spin connected
to the Torontonian.
However, even
letter to the editor
Dear St. James School community
As you are aware, approx-
imately one month ago we
welcomed the Ghider fam-
ily into our St. James school
community, they arrived
from a refugee camp in
Ethiopia. We are feeling so
very blessed to have these
3 lovely children as part of
our school community.
They have become
immersed into our school
family due to the love, care
and attention of all of our
students and staff.
They are surrounded by
people with a genuine com-
mitment to supporting the
best interests of these three
lovely students... and they
are thriving!
I have been approached
by some over the past
month asking how to help
support this family. We are
now happy to report that
the Ghider family have
transitioned into their own
home here in Seaforth, just
walking distance from the
school. As we all know
moving into a new home
comes with needs and we
are now putting a call for
some help in supporting
this family.
We have been given a list
of needed items but I am
not posting the entire list,
as I recognize that we will
get multiples of items and
that would be unnecessary
and wasteful.
Therefore, I will post a
few ideas and then we
would be willing go pur-
chase the more specific
items with monetary dona-
tions that come into the
school.
To follow school board
protocol, the money col-
lected and stored in a spe-
cific account will be spent
by the end of June and the
account then closed.
This is a wonderful
opportunity to demonstrate
how we answer the call to
give to those that are in
need.We thank you in
advance for your support in
helping this family move
towards independence
and turning their house
into a comfortable home of
their own.
Items to consider:
• Gift cards - Sills, Food -
land, Walmart
• Laundry soup
• Learning/activity books
(letter tracing, connect the
dot, etc.)
• Monetary donation -
cheques written to St.James
School
Please contact me with
any questions you may
have.
With many thanks,

Principal
after admitting to drug abuse,
specifically crack and being
stripped of his power as the
mayot Ford showed us all you
would need to shoot a silver
bullet directly to the heart and
perhaps call on the help of a
metropolitan with much more
than 2.6 million people to
remove him. Unbelievably, the
city of boroughs re-elected the
most notorious manknown to
the political universe back into
chambers as councillor for
Ward 2, Etobicoke North in
2014.
Clearly not everybody felt
disdain for what he was doing.
Perchance it was just to keep
council vital and in the main-
stream with alittle something
to talk about Who knows?
What I am sure of is that itwas
not only in Canada that he will
be the most infamous mayor to
run a city, the 300 pound bear-
like figure, takes that title for all
of North America. He was like a
journalist's icing on the cake, if
you followed him around for
five minutes something was
destined to happen.
Sitting in a federal prison
serving a 28 -year sentence is
former Detroit Mayor Kwame
Kilpatrickwho was found guilty
ofwide-ranging racketeering
conspiracy charges and what
many people believe the last
boiling point that led the city
into financial ruin. In media

hour to every second in the
day. And from all the inappro-
priateness and negativity sur-
rounding Ford, he still man-
aged to accumulate large
amounts of money, according
to numerous Internet outlets
his net worth is sitting at $50
million.
The municipality only two
hours from Seaforth will never
be the same, perhaps it will go
back to a normal government
settling back to what it once
was before Ford waltzed in.
Rest in peace Rob Ford, you
will be remembered for both
the bad and the good, not a
man on Earth could do it quite
like you, nobody.
