They have now transformed into a col- lection of companies in Sea - forth with employment undertakings ranging from the deserts of Saudi Arabia all the way north to the Arctic Circle in Finland. "We are in every continent on this great place we call earth," said Dean Wood, sales and marketing manager for Sun -North Ltd. Currently the state-of-the- art company is implementing their services in just shy of 50 countries. Making the move to Seaforth in the early 90s, the company focused on provid- ing the region with ventilation systems for agricultural build- ings that contain animals such as swine, poultry and dairy. Operating on as little electric- ity as possible, Wood said the systems use the same amount of horsepower as a household hair dryer to cover an area up to 20,000 square feet. Realiz- ing the farming sector can only grow to a certain extent, Lambert broadened his hori- zons in 2003 by opening a sec- ond project that targeted a more industrial/commercial side of air circulation manu- facturing called Envira-North Systems Ltd. In 2010, he founded a third related com- pany that dealt with water pumps, which implemented massive amounts of water to make hydrokinetic energy possible. "There is a little bit of con- nection between the three companies, but in reality we are three separate companies servicing three separate seg- ments," stated Wood on March 15 with a reminder that all three are located in Seaforth. Wood admitted that Sun - North's backbone would always lean towards the agri- culture sector; nevertheless he said other places that are thousands of miles away from Canada are in demand of their equipment and knowledge. "Every now and again, odd stuff comes up with odd ani- mals," said vice president of Sun -North Ltd., Philip Ash- win, who joined the organiza- tion in 1999 after emigrating from England and is now responsible for the company's day-to-day operations since Lambert is semi -retired. "We've done ventilation for parrots in Texas and giraffes. We've done barns with fish in them. We've even assisted in projects (such as) ferrets and rats:" Being in a business that encompasses the globe, Wood said he too has come across a fair share of'weird' requests by customers. A few years back It's the exact opposite (to) what we are trying to do here in Canada. For instance, a dairy barn up the road in Seaforth in the winter months, they are rolling up the curtains to try and keep the air out of the space. They are trying to keep the heat (in) and everything comfortable," A comfortable and cool cow is a productive cow. A productive cow makes milk and milk makes you money." — clarified Dean Wood, sales and marketing manager for Sun -North Ltd. during a trade show in Malay- sia a man approached him. "He was looking up at the fans; you could tell his wheels were turning in his head," said Wood sitting at a large black 10 -chair table in Sun -North's boardroom. The man conversed with Wood, "listen I manufacture incense sticks, here is the problem. I have to take them all out and place them all over my 20,000 square -foot floors and let them dry. You think if I can install one of those fans I could decrease the dry time?" Knowing the quality of their products through years upon years of air ventilation experi- ence Wood told the man he was 'pretty sure' the job was possible. The Sun -North team was more than successful with the unusual demand, the pro- cedure that habitually took the incense producer 12 hours to cool now only takes two hours. Across the Atlantic Ocean approximately 10, 000 km away -Egypt, a cattle farmer is facing a dilemma of his own. Through a mutual partner- ship, the company located just off Railway Street is called upon once again to save the day. "They are misting the dairy barn to keep the cows cool. The ultimate goal is to stop the wind from going inside and blowing the moisture out of the barn," explained Ashwin. To assist in the dry winds that occur in hot places like Vice president of Sun -North Ltd., Philip Ashwin the left and Dean Wood, sales and marketing manager for Sun - North Ltd. Currently the 50 employee organization in Seaforth is providing their equipment and knowledge to almost 50 countries. Behind the two is a map that shows all the specific countries that Sun -North Ltd. has provided service to. Egypt, which tend to leave the cows on edge, an all-weather fabric curtain is being built, the moveable sidewall is for dairy barns with 50 to 5000 cows. "It's the exact opposite (to) what we are trying to do here in Canada. For instance, a dairy barn up the road in Sea - forth in the winter months, they are rolling up the cur- tains to try and keep the air out of the space. They are try- ing to keep the heat (in) and everything comfortable," clari- fied Wood. "A comfortable and cool cow is a productive cow. A productive cow makes milk and milk makes you money" Through peculiar jobs across the world, or simple fixes a few kilometres away, Sun -North a company 50 bodies strong from far and wide is constantly raising the bar and increasing revenue. In the last two years, Ashwin revealed to the Expositor they have seen roughly a 20 per cent increase in growth and he is certain in the next two to five years the employee totals will increase to 75-80 working bodies. "Not to put words in Dan's mouth, but I think Dan has always been a type of person to be quite aggressive, the way he has gone about his busi- ness. He has always been (fairly) aggressive, (in the way he) has acquired people and resources," Wood said. Since business is booming, both Wood and Ashwin said a fourth building will be con- structed just off Sparling Street between Huron Street and Railway Street.
