On this day at 7 p.m., the London Knights and Erie Otters are set to play an exhibi- tion game at the Central Huron Community Complex. Every year, the Knights play one exhibition game outside of London. This game is to reach out to other communities in the greater London area, get them involved and enable them to experience what a Knights game is like with- out having to go to London. The last couple years, the exhibition game has been held in Stratford. Blyth resident Brent Scrimgeour was instru- mental in bringing the teams to Clinton. Scrimgeour got to know some of the Knights' man- agement though a friend who scouted for the team. In 2011, Scrimgeour managed to organize a practice for the Knights in Blyth. This prac- tice was extremely well attended. "That practice went over really well with our team," said the Knights' Public Relations and Communi- cations Manager Ryan Starr. "Everyone on our staff knows Brent and we have nothing but good things to say about him. Lots of people came [to the ractice], and Brent the team really P treated well:' • • 1 • • 1 • Brodhagen Chamber of Commerce Annual CHICKEN BARBECUE Sat. They want to show that they appreciate that support by giving back. Scrimgeour had been advocating for a game to happen in Clinton for a while, and when he heard they weren't going to have their exhibition game in Stratford this year, he put his name in the hat once again. Scrimgeour said he also chose Clinton because the community complex is big enough to fit such a crowd. 1400 tickets will be for sale. Although Scrimgeour is spearheading the event, the entire day will be organized by Blyth Brussels Minor Hockey. To add to the special occasion, there will be a Fanfare festival the day of the game. They are hoping to have hockey manufactur- ing vendors there and get the business community of Clinton involved. After the game, players will be giv- ing autographs, and the memorial cup will be there as well. The Knights have the memorial cup because they won it last month. There are a number of promising players on the team including Matthew Tkachuk, 011i Juolevi, Max Jones, Victor Mete and Tyler Parsons. Tickets go on sale on June 23 and are $15 each. Scrimgeour estimated they will sell out within a couple weeks. Most tickets will be sold out of the Blyth Festival box office, however tickets will also be available at Scrimgeour's Food Market in Blyth and the London Knights box office in London. "I really wanted to do this event because I want kids in this area who might not be fortunate enough to go see an OHL game to have a game in their back yards and get up close and personal with these hockey play- ers," said Scrimeour. Kid in the _Kitchen is coming to Egmondville United Church, August 15-19, from 9 -noon. Kids aged 8-12 years are invited. Games and lessons will be had to teach the "field to fork" reality.
