Besides the annual Community Show, an open (non-juried) showing of regional art work, and the Student Show (works by Huron and Perth high school art students), the Gallery mounts three special art exhibits each year. Usually three weeks in length, they may be solo, two -person or group showings on a par- ticular theme. Individual artists or groups are invited to submit a proposal to the Art Gallery for consideration for the next two seasons. Work in any media (painting, print mak- ing, photography, textiles, ceramics, sculpture, etc.) is acceptable and will be selected on the basis of artis- tic merit. Application packages must include the artist's contact information, a cur- rent biography and CV. An artist's statement and exhi- bition concept are also required, as well as good quality images of recent work in the same style as will be represented in the show. Applications may be submitted in hard copy form, digitally on a CD/ DVD, or by email to arrive by July 20th. Submissions will be reviewed by the Exhibition Committee and short-listed artists will be interviewed in their own studio by the Committee members. Blyth came out in a blazing start scoring 2 goals in the opening minutes. The Shamrock battled back and with Ashton King and Ethan Meinen scoring late in the first half. St. Columban was able to tie up the game at 2-2by the half-time break. Daniel Reidy put the Sham- rocks ahead with a penalty kick goal, but Blyth battled back and were able to tie up the game late in the second half. Kody Eisler and Wes Terpstra divided the goal- tending duties and did a great job turning away numerous Blyth chances. U13 Girls The U13 girls traveled to Wingham on Thursday, June 16th. St. Columban took the lead with a goal by Arianna Catalan. Wingham quickly netted one to tie it up. St Columban took a 3-1 lead in the first half with goals by Kiara Driscoll and Allysa Greidanus. Gabi Bilotta, Kennedy McGregor, Abby Cripps, Sarah Klaver and Arianna showed some great passing abilities that helped with the 3 first half goals. In the second half, Wingham scored to make it 3-2. St. Columban turned it on and scored 4 more goals to take the win 7-2. Goals were scored by Sarah Klaver, Abby Cripps, Samantha McCarthy and Katie Roth. Laura McCa- rthy, Emily Dearing, Maddie Burge, Taylor Rolleman and Samantha were awesome on defence to keep Wing - ham from scoring more goals. The doctors and nursing staff at Seaforth and Clinton hospitals provided excellent care. To all those who participated in his celebration of life service, including Father Keith Morrison who officiated at the mass and shared his words of comfort, and the altar servers, Eucharistic ministers, and the commentator. To organist Chris Delaney, soloist, Casey Van Bakel and the St. James choir who shared their talents by providing beautiful music. To the Knights of Columbus members for providing the Honour Guard, and the St. Columban Cemetery for arranging Roy's grave for burial.
