HomeMy WebLinkAboutHuron Expositor, 2016-02-24, Page 7Another new business comes to Seaforth Shaun Gregory Huron Expositor Seaforth is opening its doors to another business, this new entrepreneurial enter- prise is meant for relaxation. Sonja Marzo - RMT, an establishment spe- cializing in massage therapy is located at the Huron East Health Cen- tre and has been avail- able to the community since last month. Marzo, 28, is currently living in Clinton Ont. She brings her privately owned business from Grand Bend Ont. where she runs sessions on Saturdays from the Oakwood Resort. With two massage facilities Marzo is more than sat- isfied, she said. After graduating from D'Arcy Lane Institute for mas- sage therapy she decided to get her hands moving. "I've always liked it as a kid, I like helping people, I find the human body interest- ing," Marzo said. She also mentioned that the feedback from the community and the physicians in the build- ing has been supportive. With a broad range of ages that can benefit from therapy, Marzo urges the community to try it out. "I have an 85 -year- old man that comes to see me and I have a young 13 -year-old girl," she said, also adding that pregnant women can book appointments for specific prenatal massage remedies. "I think it suits a lot of individuals." `Overwhelming' success for Syrian refugee clothing donations Special to the Expositor Seaforth Manor, Retirement Living and Long Term Care and Queensway, Retire- ment Living and Long Term Care want to thank the community for all of their support for the clothing dona- tions for the Syrian ref- ugees. "It was an over- whelming success" says Christine Ozimek, CEO of PLTC parent company for both Queensway and Sea - forth Manor. "It was such a great commu- nity effort and so many clothes were collected and dropped off that hundreds of families will benefit from' Both Seaforth Manor and Queensway set up clothing donations drop boxes in each home in December and clothes were collected at each home through- out January. Early Feb- ruary clothes were picked up and dropped off at Canada's Immi- gration drop off distri- bution center - New Circles - in Toronto. A van filled with Syrian clothing donations. "It took two trips and two full van loads each with thousands of pounds of clothing dropped off," says Rich- ard Sullivan, Manager of Public Relations for PLTC. "Staff from New Circles came out and welcomed us and helped unload each of the bags and wanted to make sure that we send their thanks back to each community." "Although this winter turned out much better Contributed photo than past winters, these clothes will still be a wel- come addition to each family that receives them," says Christine Ozimek. "It was what we intended to do and help and the community pulled through for us." PLTC has always been supporting the commu- nities that our homes are in and with something like this we could not do it alone.
