Huron Expositor, 2016-12-14, Page 66 Huron Expositor • Wednesday, December 14, 2016 Fatal crash near Vanastra Just after 4:35 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, Huron County OPP, Central Huron Fire Department and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to the crash scene located just west of Vanastra on London Road (Highway 4) at 7th Avenue. The preliminary investiga- tion has determined the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu was travelling southbound on London Road when he encountered traffic that was stopped on London Road that was waiting to turn left onto 7th Avenue. The driver of the sedan maneuvered around the stopped vehicles by passing on the gravel shoulder, however the driver lost control of his car as he entered back onto the trav- elled portion of the road- way. The sedan then crossed into the northbound lane and was struck on the pas- senger side by an armoured truck. The sole passenger in the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene. She has been identified as Beth- any Blanchard, 17 years of age from Clinton. Blanchard was a grade 12 student at C.H.S.S. and one of seven kids in her family. A statement put out by the Avon Maitland District School Board said, "Bethany will be remembered as a happy, bubbly, and caring young woman that did what- ever she could to make oth- ers smile. The driver of the armoured truck was unharmed. A section of London Road was closed that evening for several hours.
