raise $7,000 for
mental health

forth has been given
some education on men-
tal health.
The four dedicated
females trucked from the
Seaforth Arena to the
Van Egmond House with
roughly 150 other locals
to make a stand and cre-
ate awareness for those
who battle mental health
on a day-to-day basis.
"Many people deal
with it, but it's just not
talked about much, we
wanted to make people
feel comfortable express-
ing it," Kristen Devereaux
stated in a phone conver-
sation August 24.
The foursome were in
shock when they tallied
up the money donated to
the cause. After all the
donations were counted,
approximately $7,000 was
raised for the event they
named the Walk/Run for
Mental Health Awareness.
"The main goal was
awareness", and
Devereaux said this
objective was achieved.
"We definitely want to
make it an annual event
we've had such great
success," she said.
The money was split
between the Canadian
Mental Health Associa-
tion Huron -Perth branch
and the Huron -Perth
Centre for Children and
Youth.
