The challenge's recipe is about four pounds of specially made pulled pork, with roughly a pound of cheese stuffed into a bread pie. Contestants have 30 minutes to finish the meal and are given as many beverages as they need, free of charge. If the person is successful in the feat they are rewarded with $100 cash and their picture and name on the wall. If they fail they are charged $33. Mason Gloade is a slender six- foot -four -inch farmer from Brucefield, he wanted to attempt the challenge the day before, but A.J. Zorlu, the owner of Johnny's Sub & Sandwich knew this process would take some time and wanted the meal to be perfect, therefore he told Gloade to come back the next day. After the food was cooked and prepared Zorlu walked out with a massive plate of food. Before turn- ing the timer on his phone, he asked Gloade if he would like any- thing to drink, he requested a Coca-Cola. The fight was on, local versus the food. In the first 10 minutes Gloade had finished about quarter of the challenge. "When he first started with the quarter slice, the way he put it in his mouth, I was like maybe he is one of those skinny kids that can eat a lot," commented Zorlu inside the sandwich shop on Main Street in Seaforth. After a few belches, Gloade had reached the halfway mark of the time and not much more had been eaten since the 10 minute mark. "I'm a 160 pounds and that thing almost weighs more than me," stated Gloade while trying to finish the massive feast. The buzzer rang off and Gloade could not eat any more. He said the cheese is what killed him. Zorlu weighed the food and Photo taken by -Shaun Gregory Mason Gloade, 18, from Brucefield attempted the food challenge at Johnny's Sub & Sandwich.
