The elephant in the room -shared services Shaun Gregory Huron Expositor Instead of jumping on the bandwagon right away, the Central Huron municipality has decided to wait and see how the shared services agreement between the municipalities of North Huron and Morris -Turn - berry play out. And the bulk of Huron East is following in those footsteps. Of recent, several lower - tier governments have been dealing with substantial cuts from the province along with increases of police services and alterations of taxes. The only logical conclusion is to look into other revenues or as is the case with Morris- Turnberry and North Huron - share services. A pilot project that the Mayor of Morris Turnbeny, Paul Gow- ingpredicts a saving of approxi- mately $600,000, by the end of 2017. This number was under estimated by a third party, so when the exact numbers are put together, the savings will be more than they anticipated, according to Gowing. He went on to say that if Huron East or any other tiers of government are worried about a potential amalgama- tion to not worry because that is not the case. He made it clear that this project is nothing more than an arrangement to save money.
