Huron County 4-H 'Go For the Gold' Competition 2016
On July 27, Huron County hosted
the Local 'Go For The Gold' Com-
petition at the
Clinton United Church.
Four teams participated. They
were the South Huron Sheep Club
"Bad Bad Black Sheep,"
Hensall Life Skill Club "Hensall
Growers," Huron Goat Club and
Team Wawanosh "Life Skill Club."
Each team played two games
with the top scoring teams playing
for the title, which were Hensall

The team members answered
4-H related questions that ranged
from knowledge and skills in over
60 different 4-H project areas, from
livestock, crops, machinery, farm
safety to life skills, food and
nutrition.
As well as general knowledge
about 4-H, the communities, cur-
rent events and the top teams were
only five points in difference.

"Bad Bad Black Sheep", placed
forth, in third place was Huron
Goat Club, second place went to
Team Wawanosh and first to Hen-
sall Life Skill Club "Hensall

Huron Expositor
Upon recently receiving the
weekly Seaforth Huron Expositor
all the way in St. Catharines Ont.,
John Walker noticed a story
about a photo that had been sub-
mitted by Bill Duffy with
unknown identities connected to
the find. The coverage left him
wondering about an image in his
possession as well.
From what it seems, this inher-
ited "9"x"12" photograph could
possibly be older than the nurs-
ing photo or any of the other arti-
facts submitted lately.
The picture that was passed
down from his father, who was
born and raised in Seaforth, is on
the town's main strip, Walker
says.
"There (are) about 20 people in
the picture, I do know one of the
people right in front of the
funeral parlour, I'm pretty sure
it's my grandfather and standing
beside him is his wife, my grand-
mother," stated Walker in a recent
phone conversation. "There are
other people in this picture, so
there might be some people up
there that say, hey I know that
person.
His partner, Margaret Bernat
scanned and sent the image
through email; she said it looked
as though it was taken sometime
in the late 1800s.
Before the winter comes,
Walker plans on bringing in a
scrapbook to the Expositor with
the town's hockey team from the
early 1940's that was then known
as the Seaforth Beavers.
"It's spelled C4th Beavers,"
ended Walker.
