ers had to find alternative transpor-
tation after being stopped by offic-
ers last night and early this morning.
Huron County Ontario Provincial Police
(OPP) officers are urging motorists to
slow down and drive with caution fol-

ing on our local Huron roadways.
Last night, shortly after 7:30 p.m.
a Huron County OPP officer spot-
ted a Ford Explorer travelling north-
bound on Bluewater Veteran's High-
way (Highway 21) near Blue Bluff
Road at a high rate of speed. A
speed measurement was taken and
the speed was locked at 55 km/h
over the posted 80 km/h zone.

and the 39 -year-old driver, Mea-
gan DORAN from London has been
charged with Racing. She now has

of speed. The speed of the vehi-
cle was measured with a RADAR
device and the speed was locked
at a high of 145 km/h in a posted
80 km/h zone. The vehicle was
stopped and the driver was subse-

UNDERSTAND THE RISKS
The risk of a fatality or serious injury
is almost five times greater for vehi-
cles crashing at 50 km/h or more
above the posted limit on a high-
way with a posted limit of 100 km/h.
The increase in risk is even greater
on roads with lower posted limits. For
example, on roads with a posted limit
of 60 km/h or less, the risk of a fatality
or serious injury is almost eight times
greater for vehicles colliding at 50
km/h or more above the posted limit.

GMC SIERRA PICKUP
STOLEN — KEYS WERE
LEFT IN THE VEHICLE
(HOWICK, ON) — Officers from the
Huron County OPP would like to
once again remind residents to
lock their vehicles when leaving
them unattended. Furthermore,
OPP investigators remind citizens to
never leave your ignition key in an
unattended vehicle. This reminder
comes on the heels of another stolen
pickup truck investigation for the
Huron County OPP Detachment.
Investigators believe the truck was sto-
len sometime between 8:00 p.m. on
July 22nd and 8:00 a.m. on July 23rd,
2016. Sometime during this 12 -hour
period those responsible entered
onto a farm property located on McI-
ntosh Line and found the unlocked
farm truck with the keys in the igni-
tion. The thief simply started up the
truck and drove away undetected.
The stolen truck is described as a
2000 GMC Sierra, 2500, 3/4 ton, two-
tone red & burgundy body with pin
stripes. The truck is equipped with
a red, 300L diesel tank in the back
bed of the truck used for fueling
farm equipment. The truck is val-
ued at approximately $8,500.
Complaint leads to
several charges
(SOUTH HURON, ON) —A novice driver
from Kitchener is facing a num-
ber of charges following a traffic
stop that took place over the week-
end south of Exeter. At approxi-
mately 1:42 a.m. on July 23, 2016
Huron County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officers received a traf-
fic complaint about a vehicle travel-
ling northbound on London Road (High-
way 4) down the middle of the road.
Officers were able to locate and stop
the suspect vehicle, a Mercedes C24
sedan on London Road near Kirk -
ton Road. While speaking with the
male driver the investigating officer
noted the driver had consumed some
alcohol. A roadside screening test
was completed and the driver reg-
istered a fail. He was placed under
arrest for Driving a Motor Vehi-
cle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alco-
hol and searched. Upon searching
the motor vehicle officers located
a small quantity of marihuana.
The driver was transported to the Exe-
ter OPP detachment where he subse-
quently provided two samples of his
breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Techni-
cian. Both of his samples registered
over the legal limit. Further investi-
gation revealed the validation sticker
on the licence plate was expired
and the driver was driving in contra-
vention of his licence conditions.

cle — Over 80 Milligrams of Alco-
hol, Possession of a Schedule II
