Breath of Spring
sells out again
Shaun Gregory
Huron Expositor
For the last few years
it's been a customary
thing for the Breath of
Spring to sell out and
they did just that at
Seaforth's Agriplex
April 20.
Approximately 250
tickets were sold with
the majority being
women, with about five
males to create a little
bit of variety. This year
is the 11th year the
Huron -Perth Lung
Association partnered
with the Seaforth Agri-
culture Society. Last
year the event raised
$10,000. The event
welcomes speakers
who talk about lung -
like diseases and then
brightens the conver-
sation by shifting into a
live cooking show per-
formed by Corinne
Bos.
Deedee Herman, the
Huron -Perth Lung Asso-
ciation, area manager
said it's a great place to
meet friends and have a
chance at winning some
"treasures"
In a few hours, the
night compiled an
array of prizes with a
silent and live auction
as well as numerous
different desserts and
coffee to indulge dur-
ing breaks.
Herman's father
passed away many
years ago from a lung
related disease known
as Chronic Obstructive
Pulmonary disease. So,
it's a day where she
cannot only enjoy her-
self, but it's also a time
to reflect on those
fighting the same bat-
tle her father fought.
"It's always made the
work I do a little more
relevant," she said, refer-
ring to honouring her
father.
One in five people
from Ontario are diag-
nosed with some type of
breathing impairment in
their lifetime, said
Herman.
