Postponed
The concert in Glover Valley which
was to take place on Friday evening,
Dec. 23rd, has been postponed indefi-
nately, owing to the fact that Mr.
Pierce, of Paisley; through some un-
avoidable cause could not be present,
but the general public may expect
something good in the near future.
bereavement. The remains were in
e terred in .the Kinloss cemetery on

t house and grave being conducted by
er the Rev. John Mills.
The Vote on the Poor House
The County Councd will pay all
expenses of the vote on the poor house
question, where their is no election in
the municipality. A large number of
of circulars, , giving all information
about the poor houses in other coun-
ties and the probable cost of the pro-
posed one • in Bruce are being
distributed among the ratepayers so
that they can form intelligent opinion -s
pro. and con., and vote then as they
see. fit.
Municipal Elections
Very little excitement exists in the
village • over the approaching munici-
cipal elections, and although several
new names have been mentioned for
the honors no one so far as we can
learn have definately announced
themselves in the field.. This, how-
ever, may be only. the ,calm that usua-
ally preceeds a storm, and the nomin-
ations on Monday next night bring to
the front any number of canditates
for all the offices at the Council Board.
For school trustees we have heard no
,names mentioned outsideof the three
retiring members, Messrs. Thos. Law-
rence, Dr. Tennant and D. R. Mc-
Intosh, all of whom' will undoubtedly be
re-elected if they so desire it. In the
surrounding townships the chances
are strongly in favor of a - keen con-
test, but what the result will be is a
difficult matter to say • until after
nomination day at ]east.

DEAR FRIEND AND PASTOR, -°-From a physi-
cal standpoint, there, at.e times, doubtless, when
laborers in the. Master's vineyard may beconi
weary in well doing, but we are delighted to
encourage your heart and hand in the untiring
efforts put forth to make the Lucknow Presby-
terian bible class one of the most interesting
and profitable religious organizations in this,
section of the country. In it we have been
taughtthat Sunday is not a sponge with which
to wipe out the sins of the week, but that God's
altar stands from Sabbath to Sabbath, the
holy Scriptures being `• a rule of faith and a
guide to our conduct " from the cradle to th
grave. Recognizing that personal comforts do,
not necessarily retard moral usefulness, we
thorefore ask your acceptance of this cap and
these, chairs, accompanied as, they are by the
sincerest hopes of your whole class that you
and your dear partner in lite be long spared to
continue the good work now 'so successful)
y
constituted, and finally hear the heavenly wel-
come, " Well done, thou good and faithful ser-
vant, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.".
Lucknow. Dec. 14th, 1892.
The recipient, who was completely
taken by surprise, made an acknow-

afternoon in the capacity, of teacher
of the bible class. In behalf of Mrs.
McKay he also conveyed her sincere
thanks whom he regretted was not
present.
