A CENSUS 4Bulletin containing the
first of a series of reports upon the
manufacturing industries of Canada,
has just been issued. It just gives the
total number of industrial establish-
n}ents in Canada, irrespectiveof mining
as 75,765. In 1881 the number was
49,923, an increase during the tenyears
of 25,842, or nearly 52 per cent. The
total number of employees in these
,establishments in 1891 was 377,496,
an increase of 112,561 or 44 per cent.

year is $26,794,959, and the amount
of taxation required to be raised fqr
county ;purposes, $45,687.28. The
County Cruncil has decided to raise
the entire amount on land values only,
with the exception of 5 per cent on
pesonal property. Bruce is noted for
its long-headed men.

connection with our work during the three
years of your intercourse with us, As a mem-
ber of our Ladies Aid Society your wise counsel
and cheerful service have many times given an
