HOLYROOD.
The neighborhood was well repre-
sented at the Lucknow fall show, it
being about the fast of the -season.
There bas been a. good deal of sick-
ness in. our Section of the country
lately. Among those on the -sick list - .
are Mrs. Forehen, Mrs. Johnston,
Mrs. Donoven and Mr. Hugh Mc-
Intosh, all of wboui are now on a fair
way for recovery.
Misses Mary Jane and Normana
Stewart, Mrs. Corrigan and Mrs.
Dempsey left. on Tuesday of last
week for Chicago, where the • former
two ladies intend to reside in _former
and the latter to spend a few . weeks
with friends.
Mrs: T Henry, who• has been visiting
Benda in-Teeaw-ater and- Walkerton
for a couple of weeks, . returned home
a few days ago. ,
We are pleased to learntnat . lr
D. 5. McKenzie, who we. ! to Mani:',
toba in midsummer, r",aa secured a
situation as teachers in McGregor
station school. Mrs .McKenzie holds
a fir_spelnis. certificate and receives a
d salary.
Mr. A. Smith is the only Manitoba
excursionist from this vicinity who
has yet -returned. Mr: Smith ' does
not seem to be very favorably
impressed with the country and thinks
than a home in Kinloss is more pre-
ferable to one on the prairie.
The lecture entitled "Here and there
in London" delivered in Zion church
by Rev. Mr. Cook, of Ripley, was just
something good. If Mr. Cook comes
around on a ,similar occasion the
probabilities are that le will have a
crowded house, - .
The row in which firearms were
showna few weeks ago was settled by
the parties before the case came before
the authorities. We understand that
N. McKenzie was assessed $20. The
case against his brother was dismissed
for the present as he . tailed to put in
an appearance.
Death has again made a blank in
our midst by the remota' of Mrs. Jos.
Beamish on 22nd ult. The remains
were taken to Lucknow station and
rimsferred-by-rail-to-Hanover, where
they were . interred on Thursday.
Mrs. Beamish' leaves a husband,.and
seven" children towhom__ber„ death ism
an incalculable loss, The sympathy of
the entire community is extended
toward Mr. Beamish and his young
family inl their bereavement.
