Phalen .and William Rousseau, of Marquette, Mich., are visiting friends in Paramount. The fall wheat in this yioinity looks exceedingly well. A certain gentlemen around here had the pleasure of treating his select friends to some very choice pears last week. This is not the first time he has treated them at his neighbor's expense, for in times past he has raided bee- hives, melon_patches, and_onion beds in order to satisfy the growing appetite of his "friend." Should this gentleman be caught again as he was last week, ; he will be exposed in the papers. The potatoe crop. in this vicinity is immense and. some farmers expect to dig as many 'as two hundred bushels, Our cattre • buyer, Mr. J. W. Murray, shipped a couple of car -loads of fine cattle,to Toronto last week. Several of our Paramount sports took in the Toronto Fair and report having had a good time. LANES.
