contended that his administration of

In support of each assertion he
quoted documents and papers, which
he considered irrefutable of hisinno-

who said he gave Sir' Hector $1,000
in 1887, the Minister . said he had no
recollection of the -transaction: -------
Even if the payment' was made for

declared under oath, it must be re-

that this alleged occurrence took -place
six years after Mr. Peters had ceased
to perform work for the Public Works
Department.
Sir Hector reviewed all the evidence
in a most comprehensive manner. - He

private dealings withLarkin, Connolly

with his position as a Minister of the

Some time ago we did some adver-

published at, Peterboro, for which we
were to receive horse cuts. We.
received the' cuts but they are not
worth the express charges we paid on
them. They will no more reproduce
the semblance of a horse than so many
square inches, of blank metal. The.
same paper is iieW floating a prize
scheme. if their prizes are as worth-
less as their cuts their dupes will get
no value. Those of our exchanges
who have been treated as we were owe
it to therpselves to put the public on
their guard.—Clinton News -Record.
The same advertisement was also'pub-
lished in the SENTINEL, and we' have
'as yet failed_ to receive any of the
horse cuts, but if those sent to the
Nelvs-Record are samples of their work-
we don't need them.
