,--W-e'have heard of people being run
over by the cars, by waggons, by hal,
ses, buffaloes, and by lots of other
things, but it is seldent that we hear
of an accident such ashiippened to one
of our girls while being escorted home
from the meeting on Friday night.
The couple in question were walking
along quite leisurely, apparently well
satisfied with each others company,
when suddenly a severe, shock was t
felt; and the young lady left the side
of her companion followed in an un-
dignified *manner by a „big chunk of a,
boy. Of course Al -k. at once began °
to pick up his girl out of the heap of w
hoy, girl; hats, dust, etc. We under- rr
stand, however, that he got her home
alright, and although badly.frightened
was not seriously hurt. Things knight t

--Smile boys from the rilhtse passed
up the 12th con. last week, and threw
some pieces of lighted cigars upon the
side of the road, which kindled tires
that might have done a great deal of
harm in such dry weather. The
parties are known ,and if the like is
done again they will'be prosecuted to
the fullest extent of the law. .Persons
who smoke cigars should have sense
