been shut out of the United States by

will give the shippers a very fair profit.
A trial shipment of live lobsters from

The people of the United States, he
says, are in such a state that not even
the most prosperous will stand . the

THE following pertinent remarks from
the Canada Presbyterian on a live sub-
ject, we refer to the careful consider
ation of the people of this county, and
especially to the members of the county
council. It says "One of the facts

A few figures from the trade returns
will show how utterly 'dependent the
Canadian farmer is upon the American
market. Last year we sold 17,767
horses, of these 17,277 were bought
by the Americans and only 490 to the
rest of the world ; of eggs . we sold
,14;000,000 dozens to the Americans
end- only 17,000 dozens to all other
nations ; of barley virtually our whole"
export, 10,000,000 busbela found a
market( Over the line ; out of 91,00,0
tons hay 82,0100 wenn to the States
and 818,000 bushels of our potatoes
find the same rna%ket. In short about
one half we export goes to the other
side and more than one half of all our
buying is done in the American ne,rket.
These example will give the Canadian
'farmer'some idea.of his position."

crimes in this country ? The county
councils of many counties persistently
refuse to erect proper places for these
