fated upon the grand success which
attended their annual fall show in
Dungannon on Tuesday and Wednes-
day of this week. It was by far the
best show ever held by the Society
and we doubt very mucii if a better
township show has ever been seen in
the' county. The new grounds on
which the show was held are exceed-
pingly well adapted for the purpose and
when completed will be second to

they have built a splendid half mile
race track and a large two-story agri-
cultural hall, the whole hosting. over
$3000. The tuilding is a large sub-
stantial frame .structure with stone
foundation and when finished is to be
used for a public hall, etc. The
grounds and buildings are owned by a
joint-stock company, the members of
which have displayed a great deal of
enterprise in procuring such a magni-
ficent park for a pleasure resort.
Wednesday, of •course, was the great
day of the show and as the -sun came
out bright and warns, visitors soon be-
gan pouring in from all directions, so

vicinity. . Iu the ground floor of the
building a magnificent display of fruits,
roots -and- getahles,,—gra3a,-d wires pro—
duce, etc. was exhibited on stands
neatly arranged around the hall, while
on a large stand in the centre, Mr. D.
C. Taylor, of this village, had a very
tine 'collection of stoves, fancy hanging
lamps, etc. and for which he received
several red tickets. The second floor
was chiefly occupied by the ladies de-
partment and a finer display it would
be difficult to find at any show in the
county. In this department Mr. W.
Allin and Mr. Thos. Young also had a
nice collection of organs,, sewing
machines, etc., while Mr. T.' L. Tre-
leaven, also of this village, added
greatly to the show with a beautiful
collection of photographs. Taken
altogether the exhibit in the inside
departments was the best ever held in
Dungannon.

In horses, cattle and sheep there
was a very large entry, and several of
the animals shown were of excellent
quality, but the entry in pigs was not
large.
SPEEDING IN THE RING.
The most attractive and interesting
feature of the show, however, was the
speeding in the ring contest. There
were three events on the programme
and it is safe to say that. at least half
those present went there especially to
see the trotting. The heats were one
mile best two in three, open to trotters
and pacers, and in the farmers' trot
there were live envies. The race was
won by a horse owned by Mr.
Boden, Colborne township, who took
both heats without any difficulty. In
the three year old class, the Wilkes
stallion, owned by Mr. Johnathan
Miller, of Goderich, had a clean walk -
ver, and could easily have distanced
all his opponents. The open trot,
however, proved to be a very fine race
and created a good deal of excitement'
amongst the spectators. . There were
four ent.ies including the Colborne
horse, Happy Lucy, owned by J.
Miller ; Daisy L., owned by Dr.
Whitely ; e nrl Grey Frank, owned by
Powell Bros., of Drayton. After a
couple of bad starts they all got away
together, and soon i he old grey pacer
went to the fr )nt, and as he came
down the home stretch leading the van
by a couple of rods, the crowd sent up
cheer after cheer in honor of the old
horse. In the second hent it required
sone six or eight attempts before the
judges could get thetn ill position, but
