Vi r. owat is that he adininisbered
the law as he'found it. In regard to
• the use of the ballot in Separate
School elections, he said that just so
soon as the Catholics desired it, they
will be given that privilege, but they
have never, asked for it and it w ouid
be an injustice to force it upon' them,
as out of the 228 Public 6ehuols in
the Province only some 80 had taken
advantage of tl.e ri ht to lect
t eir trustees by ballot. Then w, y

have been robbed, But what are
the facts? The price of seller,' books
is not the work of the Government,
but is fixed by an arbitration com-
posed of gentienen entirely independ-

books were net excessive when tLe
contracts were let. Mr. Mowat was
also charged with amending the law
so as to compel Catholics to become
supporters of Sepairate Schools wheth-
er they, were willing or not, but the
very opposite, he said was the owe.
No Catholic could be a Separte School
supporter unless he or his agent served
the clerk of the municipality with a
written notice to that effect before the
first of March in eaeh year. That
was • the law and the three judges of

so. Mr. O'Connor closed by hoping
the people of South Bruce would not
be decived by this race and religious
cry, but would go the polls on the 5th
of June and cast their ballots in favor
of Mr. Mowat and good governmet,
and took his seat amid applause. It
was then Moved by Mr. Donald Mc-
