In selecting Dr. Tennant' as their
candidate, we believe the convention
has chosen the strongest possible man,

Only the fundamentals were taught in
those days, but they were taught in .a
thorough com upon sense way, and
though I attended various schools and
colleges after that, •all I have ever
learnt. that has- been of any practical
benefit to me, I learnt in that old log
echool house.

self-sacrificing teacher, wife and mother,

husband, son and several daughters to
mourn her loss, and a large circle of
friends all over the coentry Her
eldest son, • Finlay, who died some
years ago, was oue of the hrigllest
graduates -of Queen's University, and
a young man of great promise, but he
studied too hard and now rets in an
early but honored grave, near the
beautiful spot named after hien, on the
north shore, of the Geortan a „ H y, and

that of chronicling the death of one of

our pioneer citizens,. Mr. Robeet Had-.
-wen, 'which' occurred at his home in
\Vheatlaed,•en Wednesday evening of
this week. The in,alndy which stook
`from earth this kind husband and
father, was blood poisgning, resulti;ug,
from a slight cup on the hand, about, ti
week ago, itt whirls he caught eold and'
front the f cts,of which death result-
ed as above stated.'

land where hehas since resided. His
easily life was one devoted tot he cause
